Alabama WMU Scholarships

  As funds are available, Alabama Woman's Missionary Union provides scholarship assistance for women attending Southern Baptist seminaries or divinity schools and for Acteens Challenge Team members to participate in a missions project.
 

Scholarships for Southern Baptist Seminaries or Divinity Schools

1. The student must be an Alabamian or the daughter of a Southern Baptist missionary serving to or from Alabama who is preparing to enter a Southern Baptist church-related vocation.
2. The student must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student taking a minimum of nine credit hours of study toward a degree in one of the Southern Baptist seminaries or divinity schools.

• Scholarships are granted on the basis of need, church/WMU involvement, satisfactory applications and plans to enter a Southern Baptist church-related vocation. The amount of each scholarship per semester is dependent upon the number of applicants and funds available. Scholarship checks are sent to the seminary indicated by the student. The deadline for applications as well as requests for scholarship renewal is May 1.

Alabama ACTeens Challenge Team Missions Involvement Scholarship

1. The Acteen must be a current Acteens Challenge Team member.
2. Team members are eligible only during the year they serve. If an Acteen serves on the Challenge team more than one year and chooses not to use the funds available within the year of service, funds do not roll to the next year.
3. Examples of missions involvement projects include but are not limited to: youth mission trip, Acteens Activators or Activators Abroad trip, state/national WMU internships, Summer Missions Camp, WorldSong internship. Choir tours are considered only if tour includes hands-on missions.
4. Applications must be submitted at least two months prior to the project.

• Applicants may qualify for a scholarship of up to $150 depending on available funds and need of the applicant.
• The total number of scholarships to be awarded in a year will not exceed six.
• The Alabama WMU Student Consultant and the Student Support Team Chair will determine scholarships to be awarded.
