in your life.

Bringing the Good News in the US: Michigan
Alabama WMU has a new partnership with Baptists in
Michigan. The primary areas of opportunity include evangelism and discipleship,
church start and new work, leadership and church health, and ministry
development.
The theme for this partnership is "Together on Mission." Commit to
pray for the Christians and missionaries in Michigan and prayerfully consider
involving your group in this partnership. |

PROJECT HELP:
POVERTY |
|
 |
- One out of every eight people in the US live in
poverty! In Alabama, more than 21 percent of children under the age of 18
are living in poverty. This condition is not limited to our own state and
country; there are millions living in extreme poverty all over the world.
- Alabama WMU proudly joins National WMU in seeking to break the cycle of
poverty through this important social emphasis. Together we can lead our Alabama Baptist churches to help break the cycle of
poverty by meeting needs and sharing Christ, locally and globally. To learn
more about how to break the cycle contact

WORLDCRAFTS
|
- National WMU's WorldCrafts ministry enables more than 1,600 women and men in
28 third-world countries to receive financial support through handmade
crafts. Individuals earn income by making and selling crafts, while a
missionary works closely with the artisans. This close relationship provides
a bridge to share the Gospel.
- Touch lives through supporting the WorldCrafts ministry, and view each craft
as a reminder to pray for the artisans.
- Consider hosting a WorldCrafts party
at your next Women's meeting! Catalogs and event planners are available from
National WMU or the
WorldCrafts Village
Website.

for life and employment. CWJC site coordinators, mentors and volunteers
equip women to be successful in the real world.

ALABAMA CHRISTIAN MEN'S JOB CORPS
|
|
 |
After seeing the
life-changing possibilities of CWJC, a men's version of the ministry was
developed in Texas. The success was great, and Christian Men's Job Corps had
its birth in Alabama on November 10-12, 2004, when Alabama WMU, in
cooperation with National WMU, the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions
and the North American Mission Board, hosted the first-ever National CMJC
Certification Training, resulting in four pilot sites in Alabama.
Since the
training, men who have joined CMJC have been given opportunities to
experience a new direction in life.

ALABAMA INTERNATIONAL PARENTS FELLOWSHIP
|
- Most days your completely understand why your
children have chosen to move halfway around the world to serve the Lord. But
on others, you just can't! You miss them dearly and long for them to be
near. You are not alone.
Twice a year parents of missionaries from all
across the state of Alabama join together for fellowship and support. There
is something comforting about being able to share your joys, heartaches and
funny stories of living life as a missionary parent. The National Missionary
Parents Fellowship Meeting is April 24-27 at the International Learning
Center, Rockville, VA. For more
information contact

Strengthening Alabama Schools |
- Many of us often fail to consider the
spiritual and physical needs of the people who fill our Alabama classrooms.
Schools have been tragic crime scenes, and still other times we hear of
budget cuts that threaten a quality of education for students and infer
hardship on teachers.
Alabama Baptists can make a difference in the lives of
students, their families and teachers through Strengthening Alabama Schools! There are many ways you can be involved in this ministry
including praying, donating school supplies, providing homework help,
supplying snacks for teachers picking up trash and adopting schools.
Before
volunteering, contact the principal to obtain permission and direction. Don't forget our college campuses.
Even if we can't be
there,
we can still pray. For more ideas, contact
Pat Ingram.

W.O.M.E.N. |
-
Women on Mission Educators Network
unites education professionals
with their common love for Christ and joy in serving Him. There are some
exciting opportunities for educators coming up this year with our new
partnerships in Guatemala and Ukraine. We also will be highlighting projects
in Alabama and elsewhere in North America. It's a great time to begin a W.O.M.E.N. group and become involved in this ministry.
Contact Pat
Ingram for details.

MINISTERS
WIVES |
- A Ministers' Wives Fellowship is a group of ministers' wives who meet for
fellowship, encouragement, prayer and more.
- A Ministers' Wives Fellowship
may be interdenominational or just Southern Baptist.
- All ministers' wives,
not just preachers' wives, should be included.
- There may be times when
groups of wives would enjoy meeting separately, according to interests, ages
or length of time in or type of ministry.
- Alabama WMU would like to help
groups of ministers' wives begin Ministers' Wives Fellowships. If you are
interested in having someone from Alabama WMU help you get started, contact
Pat
Ingram.

HISPANIC
WOMEN |
|
A growing ministry of Alabama WMU is the women who are members of Alabama
Baptist churches using Spanish as their primary language. Many of these
women have participated in UFM (Union Feminina Missiones) in another
country. The difference in UFM and WMU is the language and location.
Excitement is growing with the women in our Spanish-speaking churches to be
a part of Alabama WMU and its ministries. Make an intentional effort to let
Spanish-speaking Baptist Women in your area know what resources are
available from
National WMU: NUESTRA TAREA
magazine, WMU How-To (Spanish Edition) and The Missions Plan Book.
